7/6

We took bus all the day back to Taipei. We all fall sleep on the bus.

7/5

We went to Hualian to night, and bought the sticky rice cakes there. I love the skicky cakes! Every time I went to Hualian, I bought three to five bags of sticky rice cakes! (And I even haven't finish them after this program)
Heng-An's hometown is Hualian. It is so nice that we heard the introduction by Heng-An (She said that she went to NTU by bicycle everyday)(just kidding)

7/4

I got a sunburn in Gold Ecological Park.
The color of the sea there in Jiufen is so fantastic, called "Yin yang sea" because of the different color in different distance from the coast.
In the evening, I really enjoy writing what I hope to do on the lantern. I hope all of my friends and families can be happy and safe all the time and also hoping the my dream could come true! Seeing the Lanterns flying to the sky make me so touching that I believe my dream could come true one day if I work hard enough.
My roommate is Yunwen to night. She is so nice! We watching TV together and it is so fun that we both are the Aquarius!

7/22

It is hard for me to accept the fact that BACT course is finished !!!
(I can't believe that! I am going to be crazy...)

From 05:00 am, said goodbye to Ruisi Man and Yang Fan
09:40, Stephanie and Corrine, 13:00,Tracy
13:40, Jenny and Alicia, 14:30 went to airport with Yunwen, Vivian and Qi Zou.
(Emily Hsieh, I missed you:( I fall asleep when you leave :(((((

Hugging and saying good bye again and again make me still dropping tears.
I love you guys SO MUCH!! I will miss you a lot.(sad)
Hopefully we can meet each other again in the future.

Have a pleasant journey home :)
(Especially for Ruisi Man and Fan Yang! I saw the heavy rain in Beijing on news><)

7/19

Today, we say goodbye to Dr.Tom and Robin. I feel really sad that BACT program will end soon. :[
I appreciate everything
I enjoyed what we experienced together a lot! It is so nice that I can meet all you "guys" in this summer :]

(It is hard for me to describe my feeling now....)

7/3

This is my first time observed the cultures in the coast intertidal zone. It is so great!
I saw many cultures there, including blue ringed octopus, which is poisons and may bite you, and nudibranchs, hermit crabs and brittle stars. I have loved hermit crabs since I was little. I really enjoy they move slowly in my hand.

6/30

We went to National Palace Museum. I though the place is nothing to do without  biodiversity or agriculture but culture. The tour guide is so excellent that her English is really great. There are too many people in the museum, especially Chinese people. They talk loudly in the building and the toilet there are always full of people. It is quite different when I visited there when I was little.
I saw the most famous artwork:   Jadeite Cabbage with Insects. It is so small than what I thought.

6/29

I enjoyed the lecture by Dr. Tom. It was so nice for us to know the knowledge and the way he have studied. It sounds so interesting!!
I also love the observation in the evening. The tour guide Mr.Lee was the TA of the animal  experiment  when I was freshman. It was so great that I could met him again here. He is excellent!

6/28

I love the Juming Museum. I wish I could spend longer there. Although the weather is so hot and I still sweating, I really enjoy the artworks there. The most famous one is the series of Taichi artworks, including the series-ending, two-story-high Taichi, and the highly acclaimed Single whip. I also love the water-paint wall at the children art center. The wall there could let us unleash the artist within. We also see the black swan, which was so funny that it could understand when people called its name!
I thought that it was a little bit weird that we need to visit the Dharma Drum Mountain in BACT program. The place is full of religion and it is not suitable at all. Although they claimed that they just introduce something about culture, I still it is not suitable for us to visit. I could not accept some of the aspect they explained.

6/27

I was late again(T^T) and I went to Yangmingshan by myself. It was so crowed on the way to Yangmingshan on the bus! There were many retired citizens who wanted to take a walk along the trail in Yangmingshan.
I really enjoyed the scenery there and also the tour guide in Siaoyoukeng. We also saw the bamboo
partridge which walked across the trail. It was so cute!! There voice sounds like: "ι›žη‹—δΉ–" in Chinese.

6/26

I remembered that I was late at June 26th and I was sleepy all the day, because I haven't finished my final report in last semester. I have stayed up late at night and could not get up early.
When we visited the NTU Insectarium, we met Dr. Chi-Wei Tsai and he gave us a clear introduction of the insects. There is a room full of drawers and full of insect specimens. Actually, I did not like the insect which looks like cockroach, but I noticed that some insects is cute after I visited this room.

7/15

I need to wake up early tomorrow. I discussed the topic of the project and how to do it all the day! I suffered from it! But I really feel appreciated to my teammate. They always come up good and new ideas. We discussed a lot today, from natural to tourist. We changed several, about six or seven topics during the discussion. Sometime, I thought that maybe we thing to much that the questions we asked maybe not as complicated as what we thought. However, sometimes I thought that maybe we are too naΓ―ve that the questions was not easy to be solved by small experiment.
After the proposal, we fortunately have opportunity to discuss the topic with professors and get more information and ideas. I am appreciate that the professors are all willing to give us many advances and my teammate could accept that what I wanted to say.

7/14

I was so cheerful that we get chance to have a walk and watch birds. Dr. Zhong talked about the knowledge of the fig tree and the fig wasp. The relationship between them was amazing!

In the evening, we discussed about the topic of the project. I really enjoyed the discussion trip in our room. I hope we could finish this project happily.

7/13

7/13
We talk along the trail of the Phoenix tea plantation in the morning and the view there was so beautiful. And then we enjoyed the tea class a lot. Spending about two hours to practice how to make the tea taste well was so fun. The tea master was so professional.

In the afternoon, we visit the Bamboola Taiwan shop. There are many tricky boxes that make we spend so much time to find how to open them. Ivy and I also play the Chinese chess. This game was so old-fashion that I almost forgot how to play. But Ivy was familiar with the game, so she win all the time.(T^T) Anyway, this game was so nice for me to practice a lot.

7/12

7/12
We went to Taiwan Endemic species research institute. The most interesting place is the wildlife and rescue center. We saw a cute parrot called” gray gray” be kept there. There are so many ambassador animals, including a owl without one wing and a leg-broken CollaredScops Owl.

In the afternoon, we took a class about the bats. It was so excited that we could have a chance to see a live long-ears bat! It even fly around the classroom!

In the evening, because of the room without air conditioner, we sit outside the room. It was so wonderful that Jack Bia brought his guitar here and we play it and sing songs.

7/11

I love the breakfast today! We visited the Wood utilization center. There are so many artificial arts, including traditional style works and the fashion style ones. And then we stared to make our own stool. The steps are much more complicated than what I thought. I have a problem when I assembled pieces of woods that I can’t complete the final steps, because my strength was not enough. , and the master of the carpenter help me to solved that.

At the dinner time, Robin told us how she met Dr. Tom. The story was so touching, not only that how they met and they cherish each other, but also they was appreciated until now. A drop of my tear almost falling down when Dr. Tom said that” Yes, we are lucky” when Robin just said that they got married at 21 years old and still keep great relationship until now. This topic made Dr. Tom a little bit be shy, but what he said was really impressed me. He thought that we maybe could meet many people, but it is not easy to have the opportunity to meet the right person. Robin also cried and the atmosphere was so sweet.

I appreciated that Robin and Dr. Tom willing to share their story to us and Mr. Chung teach us all the day. I feel satisfied today!

7/10

We harvest tomatoes this morning. There are two kinds of tomatoes, the orange ones and the red ones. The red ones are sweeter than the orange ones. I was excited that I could eat fresh fruit in this evening.

In the way to the sun moon lake, I saw the Wenwu Temple. It is a magnificent building. This temple is for the lecture god and the war god. We walked around the lake by the Hanbi lakeside trail. We encountered the Christain Church and the guard post. It’s a pity that the door of the church was closed. Sun moon lake surrounds a tiny island called Lalu. One side of Lalu is round like the sun and the other side is shaped like a crescent moon.

In the evening, we took a interesting class. The “Luban lock” is the traditional puzzle toys. We spent one and a half hour to practice how to product the Luban lock.  In my point of view, the person who invented this lock was so smart!!

I saw tint vegetables in the farm.

Woody walked on the sun moon lake.

We find some drink near the sun moon lake. The chain shop is called "Chin Shin".

We spent about two hours on these wood!

6/24,6/25

6/24
It's excited to meet everyone at June 24th. I noticed that many classmates could speak in Chinese and it was a little bit surprised me! Hope we can practice English more.

6/25
We visited the gallery of NTU history. I have visited there one time last summer. The additional exhibition about the professor Pi-Sin Chen went to Antarctica and he brought the national flag there! When I was in the building, I was impressed by the comfortable atmosphere there. The window was big and it's bright inside. The building of the gallery of NTU history used to be the library. I was so admired that the students were able to study in this beautiful building.

7/9

We wake up early to go bird watching. There are many bird in Meifeng farm. I have heard some songs before, but I totally forget what kinds of the bird made them. Today I learn that Taiwan Yuhina can make songs like” nice to meet you!” and its name just named by its sounds. The Taiwan Sibia sing songs like” Happy new year”, and the brown-flanked bush warbler, the most interesting one, can make the songs likely to say ”you, come back!” in Chinese. I was so surprised that the size of birds are not big, but they all can sing loudly.

After breakfast, we walk around the Meifeng farm and see many kinds of flowers and plants. We ask the tourguide “is this edible?” for almost every plant. The tourguide told us the difference between the Taiwan Cryptomeria and Japanese Cryptomeria. The leaf of the Taiwan Cryptomeria was harder, and the shape of the tree was like a Christmas tree.

In the afternoon, after we have the lecture, we harvest the sugar beets. The taste of the sugar beets was like a root! We add some pineapples, apples and sugar beets to make juice. It taste not bad in my group, because we add few pieces of sugar beets and add a lots of pineapples. After drinking the juice, we went to the lavender garden. I love the small there! Someone has told me that the lavender could make people relaxing, and it can function as the medicine for muscle sour.

"is that edible?"

This is the leaves of  China Knotweed. The leaf on the left with a little spot was less bugs biting, and the leaf one the right side has holes by bugs biting. The pattern of the spot was like the hurting marker, it make the bugs do not want to eat. This is the way that the plant protect itself.

Cynthia love the tiny toad.

The brown-flanked bush warbler sing songs" you, comeback" in Chinese.

The group to make juice.Taste not bad!

In the lavendar garden !

7/8

This is the 14th day in BACT program. Time passed too fast that I even could not noticed that. Today we went hiking on Hehuanshan. Although the temperature was a little bit low and it was windy, the view was so amazing. We went hiking from altitude 2920 meter to 3416.It was my first time to experience the thin air on the high altitude. I was so glad that I felt much better after I took the medicine given by the staff. :)

The sheep shearing show in the Cingjing Farm was so cute, but the cowboy treated the sheep rudely. The sheep was so poor!

                                          My Woody is hiking too!

We take many photos when hiking.

The cowboy just finish the cutting.

7/7

It was great for me to have a nice sleep in Taipei. We moved to Meifeng Farm. It was a long trip to take the bus. On the bus, we enjoyed the karaoke. I tried to learn some vocabularies from the English songs. Although there was few English songs on the list, I really enjoy the songs”Hey Jude”. It was so lucky that I could heard those American friends singing. I hope I could have more opportunity to heard everyone singing.

At dinner, I had a seat with Jack and Dr. Tom. We talked about the mushrooms. There were two kinds of mushroom that were common in America. One was “bottom”, and the other one (I forgot the name :P) could be big. They could be used to make “fake meat” by vegetarian.

It was colder than what I have thought in Meifeng farm, and that made me feel a little bit uncomfortable. I better take some medicine and go to sleep early, but it was so bad that I could not go to see stars with guys.

we enjoyed the karaoke on the bus!

7/2

Oh! This is the first time that I write this blog. In these days, I did my
diary in my notebook in Chinese, so I hope I could translate it in English
and post here as soon as possible.

[7/2]
It is so excited of me to go to Yeliu Geopark. Although I live in Taipei, I
haven’t been there before. I have seen many beautiful photos of the Geopark
on the website of tourism bureau before and thought that the “Queen’s head”
was huge like a person high. When I saw it today, I was a little bit
surprise that it was really tiny but so cute! In the Yeliu Geopark, the “
Urchin fossil” was more attractive for me. The Pattern in the middle of the
urchin fossil was like a flower, and we could see them on the ground
everywhere in the park! In the free time, I went to see the “ice cream rock”.

In the afternoon, we visit the Fisheries Research Institute. There were
so many economic fish that we could see. I even saw the moray and the fish
that use to make caviar, it was so interesting.

And then we made dumpling by ourselves at NTU. We chatted to one another
loudly and made so many dumplings that we did not finish them. We found that
the Western guys did not eat as much as we, maybe they were missing their
sandwiches. XD
